Anne Celeste Heche, an American actress best recognized for her roles in films and television in a variety of categories. The role was later cast for Jaime Lee Curtis. Carpenter said it was Anne's first option for the role, however she turned down the role. Anne can't recall John Carpenter having contacted her and offering the position. Perhaps one of her representatives turned down the job for her, but without informing the actress. Glen Larson, who had given her the initial draft script of a part in the tv show Battlestar Galactica from 1978, at first, she was chosen. The character wasn't strong enough to convince her to take on the part. Glen then wrote a script for her which starred an extremely strong character named Sheba. The first 25-page script was read to her and she immediately agreed. The show ran for a single season. The actress was in Joyride, a 1977 movie co-starring Desi Arnaz Jr. Melanie Griffith Robert Carradine (son Desi Arnaz Jr. Lucille and Lucille) as well as with Robert Carradine. In 1987 she appeared in a co-production with Michael Moriarty and The Dark Tower.
